FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Important Questions About Auckland Counselling Clinic

How do I book an appointment?

Throughout your initial intake session your counsellor will seek to hear you, understand you and read your situation. By the end of the intake session your counsellor will discuss the best strategy for you going forward ensuring you are able to achieve your desired therapeutic goals.

Is there free parking available?

Yes. There are visitor car parking spaces available onsite, in addition there are many free street parking spaces available all around us.

How much does counselling cost?

Business hours (9am-5pm), Individual Counselling sessions are $150. Marriage Counselling / Relationship Counselling sessions are $200. Weekend appointments, Individual Counselling sessions are $190. Marriage Counselling / Relationship Counselling sessions are $240. Report writing is charged at $150 per report.

How many counselling appointments will I need?

On the completion of your first session we will be able to advise you what the next steps are to ensure you achieve your desired therapeutic goals. Typically people will attend between 3 to 10 counselling sessions.

Am I guaranteed to get what I'm looking for?

Your counsellor is not a magician who can cast a spell over you giving you what you desire. We have no direct control over you, and we can't make you do anything. If a person is a willing participant, open, ready to learn, applies the skills they have learned and uses the tools they have been equipped with, a good therapeutic outcome is very likely. We find most people have a genuine willingness to do what needs to be done in order to escape their unwanted psychological and emotional experiences.

Can you make my partner see they have a problem and get them to do what I want?

No. Unfortunately sometimes people attend marriage and relationship counselling with the intent on weaponising the counsellor as a tool to try and convince their partner that they are right, their partner is wrong, that their partner is the only one with a problem, and that the partner is the only one at fault, with no real intention of restoring their marriage or relationship. There are also times where a person might use something the counsellor has said in a counselling session twisting the counsellors words to attack and hurt their partner in a conflict situation later when back at home. If this is your intent, please do not book in with us. We prefer to work with sincere, genuine people who are willing to do what needs to be done in order to achieve the healthiest possible relationship.

How can I make payment?

Payment can be made via Credit/Debit card, Cash or Direct Deposit.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?

No problem! Please call us and we will find another time slot that works for you. If less than 48 business hours notice is given or a client does not attend a previously booked appointment without notifying us the full fee will still be payable.

What types of therapies are used?

We apply a combination of therapies best suited to the individual. Each person is unique individual with their own unique experiences of life, we don’t apply a one stop, cookie cutter approach to every person. Counselling is always tailored specifically to the individual to ensure the best therapeutic outcome.

Are your counsellors experienced?

Yes. We ensure that you are receiving the best care. Our counsellors are fully qualified and have a minimum 3 years active counselling experience.

How many counsellors are there?

It fluctuates ranging from 1 to 4 approximately, it all depends on demand, time of year and the quality of people we can find to meets our clients needs.
